Nel sistema Comstock-Needham è la prima delle nervature anali (McAlpine, 1981; Merz & Haenni, 2000; Amorim & Rindal, 2007; Cumming & Wood, 2009; Cerretti, 2010).
Nei Ditteri è generalmente presente, ma nella maggior parte dei Brachycera si fonde distalmente con CuA2 per formare un ramo terminale comune (McAlpine, 1981; Merz & Haenni, 2000; Cumming & Wood, 2009; Cerretti, 2010).
Alcuni Autori interpretano questa nervatura come CuP (Saigusa, 2006; Cumming & Wood, 2009).
