CuP
Nel sistema Comstock-Needham è il nome con cui si indica il ramo posteriore della vena Cu (Hennig, 1954; Colless & McAlpine, 1970; McAlpine, 1981; Matile, 1993; Merz & Haenni, 2000; Cumming & Wood, 2009).
Secondo l'interpretazione più diffusa, nei Ditteri è una falsa vena non sclerificata e tracheizzata, strettamente ravvicinata al ramo CuA (Hennig, 1954; Colless & McAlpine, 1970; McAlpine, 1981; Cumming & Wood, 2009).
Secondo Saigusa (2006) sarebbe un carattere neomorfico dei Ditteri e non omologo alla vera CuP, che si identificherebbe, invece, con la vena generalmente denominata A1 dagli Autori che condividono gli sviluppi del sistema Comstock-Needham adottati nel Manual of Nearctic Diptera.
